The city off Cuba that's 650 m deep indicates that sea levels in the Caribbean were that much lower, probably before the YD event, before Saturn departed. Right? Was the ocean that shallow during the Great Flood too? If so, the polar column must have held the excess water since before the Great Flood.

_During the Ice Ages a greater amount of moisture was evaporated from the seas and is thought to have been stored up as ice. ____Sea levels are thought to have fallen by 560 feet during the last advance but there is only enough water in the current polar ice caps and in glaciers to raise ____sea levels by 200 feet - which implies that an enormous ice sheet covered a large part of the globe during the Ice Ages. However, ____sea level changes may not have been so great if other factors are taken into account such as tectonic uplift and land subsidence. Plate movement is another factor. For example, if Europe is moving away from North America, this may have involved episodes of enhanced or rapid spread, in contrast to the uniformitarian idea of continuous slow drift. Plate movement not only buckled hills and mountains and raised shorelines but caused the subsidence of land in some regions, as a result of stretched plates. This has historically affected the North Sea basin and may lie at the root of the ____sea level rises which occurred in the late Roman period. The geology of NW Europe since the end of the Ice Ages is intriguing. The North Sea basin is thought to have been dry land that was flooded as ____sea levels have changed. This idea would demand a universal increase in the amount of water in the oceans - but where would the water have come from? As the Sahara began to turn from grassy savanna into desert, the Nile valley became important as a food producing area and came to support a large sedentary population with advantages over the surrounding semi-nomadic groups which still practised transhumance. The spread of farming after climatic change is also a feature of European prehistory. It was adopted as a means of controlling food resources, it has been argued, in desperate times. The shoots of grasses and cereals were the first thing to emerge in a fire blackened landscape - and important if game had suddenly become scarce. The severing of Britain from the continent is glossed over in most textbooks: an inundation of the sea is usually blamed - but where did all the water come from? A similar plate movement separated Britain from Ireland - the numerous islands around the N and NW of Scotland and W of Ireland are evidence of this pulling or stretching motion, pieces that have become detached and left behind. It is estimated that Scotland north of the Great Glen will eventually break away and become a separate island - but why? What is or was the force exerted on the crust to cause the plates to slide apart and tear the land asunder? This is catastrophism captured in a broken mould, mute testimony of paroxysms in nature - but is it evidence of internal pressures in the earth, or is there a cosmic dimension? A piece of comet hitting one part of the earth could have caused volcanism and earthquakes in other parts and possibly even crustal movements. In other words, worms and dragons (comets and meteors) may have influenced plate movements as recently as the 6th century AD.
Rising ____sea level in the North Sea, originally the flood plain of the river Rhine and its tributaries, has affected all sides of the basin. In the Netherlands for instance, land reclamation and sea defence systems are important, as more than a quarter of the country is below current ____sea levels. ____Sea levels rose dramatically in the Dark Ages [3 ] but there is evidence they had started to rise as early as the 3rd century AD. In the 5th century the Romano-British, in a letter to the Roman consul in Gaul, complained of rising ____sea levels, as well as Saxon raids. In the 6th century the ____sea level rises were a catalyst for the mass migration of people from what is now the Netherlands, NW Germany and Denmark into eastern England. Sands that had been heaped up in some great convulsion formed a belt of dunes along the coastline from the Netherlands to Denmark, protecting in particular the Frisian islands and creating a lagoon in the delta of the Meuse, Rhine and Schelde rivers. In the 5th or 6th centuries these dunes were breached and swept aside and the deep inlet of the Wadden Sea was formed [4 ].
